Seasoned sales and staffing professional Joe Arrigo has a diverse background in IT and energy. As a former advisor for renewable energy supplier SolarCity, Joe Arrigo is a staunch proponent of diverting from fossil fuels to solar power.

According to a recent report published by the International Energy Agency, world reliance on renewable energy will grow 30 percent over the next five years, and solar power will be responsible for well over half of that growth. Part of the appeal of solar energy is its low startup and running costs. While photovoltaic cells have been around since the 1950s, it is only recently that manufacturers have been able to produce solar panels at an affordable rate.

This has made solar power one of the cheapest sources of energy. For example, the Los Angeles city government was able to purchase solar-generated energy at 2 cents a kilowatt, which is half the cost of energy derived from natural gas. Likewise, India and China are investing heavily in solar projects, while residential solar panels are becoming increasingly popular in Europe, Australia, and California.
